MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) condemned the murder of a Filipina allegedly by her Slovenian husband just a few days after Christmas.
Marvil Facturan-Kocjančič, 27, was allegedly killed by her husband, Mitja Kocjančič, while on holiday vacation in the resort town of Bled on Dec. 29, 2024.
Article continues after this advertisement“As we offer our thoughts and prayers with Marvil’s family, we also stand in solidarity with them, condemning acts of domestic violence and seeking justice for our ‘kababayan,’ and honoring the beautiful life she lived,” the CFO said on Friday.

“The case has sparked widespread shock and sorrow, especially among the Filipino community in Slovenia, where Marvil had just begun building a new life,” the group said in a social post.

The CFO said it would continue to advocate for the rights of Filipinos abroad, and urged those experiencing domestic violence and other types of abuse to reach out for support.
Article continues after this advertisement“Overseas-based Filipinos married to other nationalities or with foreign partners, who experienced any acts of trafficking, domestic violence and abuse, may contact the CFO, 1343 Actionline against Human Trafficking, or the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate for assistance,” the agency said.
